The Crane partners with The Registry Collection

Posted in: News, Sales on: May 28, 2010

The Crane is the only resort in the Caribbean to be invited to join The Registry Collection, which offers an exchange portfolio of many of the finest vacation properties around the world.

The Crane had received feedback from our owners that they wanted a higher level of service within the external exchange program.  Previously the only option for our owners was the RCI Points program.   We are very excited to offer this option to our owners for enhance service and flexibility in using their ownership for external exchange.  We have found that the Registry Collection programme offers access to an elite network of luxury leisure properties, helping to provide ultimate vacation experiences at some of the most desirable resort destinations in the world.  We are now pleased to inform you that The Registry Collection is our new external exchange club of choice.

Beyond destination choices, The Registry Collection program also provides valuable lifestyle resources—from the Collection Partners, featuring international golf travel, yacht and private jet charters, custom travel packages, 24/7 world wide concierge service and other premium travel services.

The enrolment fee for RCI Points Programme was included in your purchase; however The Registry Collection service level is significantly higher than that of the RCI Points Programme. The normal price for joining The Registry Collection is typically between USD$2,000 and USD$5,000 for the enrolment and first two years of membership. However, we are subsidizing this enrolment for our existing owners and offering it at USD$800 for the first two years.

Please visit www.theregistrycollection.com for the complete list of destination properties. If there is a location you do not see on the list, members of The Registry Collection can also access the top RCI Points properties, and the exchange value is fantastic: often resulting in 2-3 weeks of accommodation for the one week deposited.  All of this is handled one on one with Registry’s Concierge Services who provide 24-7 assistance with your travel arrangements.

In an ongoing effort to provide the highest level of service to our owners and keeping our internal and external exchange programmes consistent we will provide our owners access to this program through your existing Crane Points account. If you have a built up bank of Crane points, we can move these into The Registry Collection for ultimate flexibility and value.

The Barbados Jazz Festival in Review

Posted in: General on: February 9, 2010

Four times – still a charm!

For the fourth consecutive year, The Crane has been the official hotel sponsor of the 2010 Barbados Jazz Festival and much like previous years the last was a resounding success. This year’s festival brought stars like Etienne Charles, Joe Lovano, Smokey Robinson, Elio Villafranca, Lalah Hathaway, Bwakore, Lao Tizer, Karen Briggs, Chieli Municci, Robin Thicke, Babyface and Warren Hill to the beautiful shores of Barbados. The Crane had the privilege of hosting the artistes who thoroughly enjoyed their stay on property.  And the festival began…

On Monday night, Bar 1887 came alive as we featured our first After Jazz Lime. Commencing directly after the show at Sunbury Plantation, Etienne Charles and Joe Lovano took to the bar for a second shot at a live performance in Barbados. This upbeat party continued for a few hours as all those in attendance were truly soaking up the atmosphere and the great music.

On Wednesday night, the classical Smokey Robinson delivered a breathtaking performance at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium and continued the show on the road to Bar 1887, The Crane, St. Philip, where his band staged a rocking jam session along with members of the Elio Villafranca quintet.

On Thursday, January 14th, 2010, The Crane was under the limelight as it hosted the dinner set of the festival. Those in attendance opined that the quality of food and show were excellent. This was evident during the After Jazz Lime themed 1887 & All That Jazz as patrons enjoyed the music of Barbados Jazz Artist of the Year, Kellie Cadogan.

On Friday night, Lalah Hathaway continued the tradition of the entertainers of previous nights and rocked the bar with her soulful voice after her performance at Ilaro Court and made way in the Bar for Grammy Award Winner, Robin Thicke the following night. Mr. Thicke performed some of his well known hits such as Lost Without You, The Sweetest Love, amongst others.

The Crane ushers in 2010 with A “Village Masquerade”

Posted in: General on: January 4, 2010

For hundreds of years, The Crane was known as “the place to be” in Barbados on what is affectionately termed “Old Year’s Night” by Barbadians.  In 2009, The Crane brought back this tradition with a roaring comeback in the new Village with its Village Masquerade party.  A fantastic mix of Crane members, visiting guests, local doctors, lawyers, politicians, business executives and well known professionals – old and young - were among those ushering in 2010 at the exclusive street party. Guests mingled and danced the night away to the melodious sounds of “The Soul of Barbados” Virtuosity and the presence of a spectacular blue moon.

At the stroke of midnight, the pleased diners as well as those who just came to party joined the band in the town square for the 2010 countdown. Lead singer of Virtuosity Kim Derrick, belted Happy New Year to the attendees which was followed by the customary ‘Auld Lang Syne’ as guests exchanged hugs, kisses and well wishes for 2010. An array of balloons and confetti showered the village from different angles and the party continued for a couple hours as the patrons truly enjoyed the band’s mixture of pop, reggae and calypso music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Hotel Manager and Coordinator of the Village Masquerade, Paul Collymore said the party was a significant event for The Crane, as it was the first time in several years that the luxurious resort had hosted a major Old Years night event.   “We are bringing back the tradition of New Year’s Eve at The Crane and this year was a great start to what we expect to do in the future. We had around 400 persons here for the comeback party and they fully enjoyed a good night out. The reports have been favourable and we are looking forward to a fantastic 2010,” said Collymore.
