Concierge Updates- February 2013

Welcome back to The Crane blog!

The year is off to a fantastic start here at the resort and we look forward to welcoming our new and returning guests in the upcoming months.

February is definitely shaping up to be a month full of activities on resort as well as across Barbados. Firstly, we are pleased to announce that D’Onofrio’s Trattoria has reopened for lunch on Sundays offering a fantastic menu of classic Italian dishes. The Coconut Grove Beach Bar & Grill has also reopened and offers food and beverage service directly on the beach!

On February 14th, join us as The Crane presents our Valentine’s Dinner Show- L’Amour de Paris at 7:00pm in the Pavilion Ballroom. Enjoy a specially prepared three course menu followed by two hours of sultry jazz from around the world featuring Rosemary Phillips and the Stefan Walcott Quartet.

For those looking for a bit of adventure on your Barbados holiday, The Barbados National Trust conducts a series of hikes every Sunday. On February 17, ‘The Great Train Hike’ starts at Independence Square, Bridgetown. This hike is intense and covers approximately 25 miles, but is a fantastic way to explore Barbados and learn about the history of the railroad, as you travel from Bridgetown to Belleplaine, St. Andrew.

In addition to weekly hikes, The National Trust also conducts a series of Open Houses. This month features the beautiful Beauchamp House – St. John and the repurposed St Matthew’s Rectory – St Michael.

The annual Holetown Festival takes place on February 10-12th, and commemorates the landing of the first settlers to Barbados at Holetown, St James in February 1627. Highlights of the festival include a street fair, the ‘Beating of the Retreat’ by the colourful Barbados Defence Force Zouave Band, a Floodlit Tattoo parade by the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Mounted Police. The festival will also feature music concerts, lectures on and tours of Holetown, exhibitions, and a street parade that features, among other things; vintage and classic cars.
