Barbados: Fun in the Sun For Everyone

Barbados: Fun in the Sun For Everyone

We're sure you have heard the saying "make hay while the sun shines". Well in Barbados, we've come up with our own 'Bajan' version of this wise statement - "have fun while the sun shines". With year-round sunshine and warm weather, fun is a daily occurrence here and we invite you to join us. Here are some of things you can do in Barbados to have fun while the sun shines:

Cruise on a Catamaran

Grab your sunscreen and party on a catamaran!  While most of these vessels offer both day and evening cruises, we recommend a day tour which is typically inclusive of drinks, food and a stop for snorkeling (with equipment provided). This is a great opportunity to swim with the turtles!

We recommend: Cool Runnings Catamaran Sailing Cruises

Take an Island Safari

Hop on one of these open back trucks and strap in because you are about to have the ride of your life! This non-stop fun expedition takes you to the most strikingly scenic parts of Barbados on a guided on and off-road island tour. The key word here is off-road - you have been warned.

We recommend: Island Safari

Discover Historic Plantation Homes

Plantation Homes are very much a part of Barbadian history and date back to pre-independence days. Many have been built using period Jacobean architecture and are now restored offering daily tours of the grounds as well as the Main House. It is also not unusual to see the remains of wind mills as these would have been used to pump water and grind sugar in the past.

We recommend: Sunbury Plantation House

Go Deep Sea Fishing

The warm waters off the coast of Barbados provide a perfect home for Barracuda, Swordfish Dorado and Tuna. There are several charter boats equipped to handle small groups and offer tours on a daily basis. Deep Sea Fishing is an exhilarating experience and many of the charter boats are known for catches over 500lbs.

Walk through historic Speightstown

Speightstown, named after William Speight, is one of four major towns in Barbados. Colonial architecture is still very present in this area. Today, Speightstown is home to casual cafés, fine dining restaurants and a beach front boardwalk - perfect for a day of leisurely discovery.

Hit the Beach

This is perhaps the most obvious of all the things to do in Barbados. With miles and miles of beautiful beaches, you can visit a new beach everyday of your vacation and never tire. We recommend of course, that you start and end with Crane Beach - voted the Caribbean's Best Beach by USA Today Readers.
