Imagine a celebrity showcase of culinary expertise with the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados as its background, add to that great food, an excellent vintage and the best aged rum and you have the perfect package. The annual Food Wine and Rum festival (FWR) takes place right here in Barbados from November 16-19. This year’s event is slated to feature an even bigger celebrity contingent and a selection of international and Barbadian chefs including Food Network stars; Marcus Samuelsson, Aaron McCargo and Anne Burrell.
New additions to this year’s festival include the highly anticipated ‘Sizzle Street’, which the organisers have created to broaden the reach of the Festival. “The emphasis is on the appeal of ‘street cuisine’ and vendors will be invited to bring their best street food for consumption to about 4,000 visitors and Barbadians.” The afternoon will be filled with food, beverages, fun, music, giveaways, healthy lifestyle checks and cook-offs.
The popular 'Bajan Fiesta' event returns again this year and will feature a family style buffet with unique Bajan cuisine prepared by some of the island's best chefs including Antonio Sivers, Sous Chef at L’Azure Restaurant. This will be Antonio’s first time at the event and he is looking forward to participating and promises patrons a variety of exciting dishes to tempt their palates. Guests of the event will have the opportunity to watch the chefs prepare dishes and enjoy sample sized portions of these culinary masterpieces.
