Sunbury PlantationBuilt in the 1960’s by an early settler on the island, Sunbury Plantation House is immersed in history of the island. Here you will be able to tour this 17th century great house and take a step back in time. This is the only plantation house of its kind which has all rooms available for viewing. In the rooms you can find mahogany antiques, old china and glassware, old prints and even horse carriages.
Four Square Distillery & Heritage Park
Four Square Distillery and Heritage Park is a fully operating rum factory in St. Philip. This distillery is popular for brands of rum including Old Brigand, Doorly’s and E.S.A. Field. There is no charge to enter Foursquare and you are encouraged to explore to see the different stages of rum production. Along with the factory, the heritage park is home to old buildings with old architecture, reflective of Barbados as it was in earlier times. At the end of tours, for a small fee, be sure to sample the rums!
Ragged Point Lighthouse
At the most easterly point of the island, you will find Ragged Point Lighthouse. This recently restored lighthouse overlooks unmatched views of the east coast of the island. On a clear day, you can see the entire coastline all the way to the north of the island. The lighthouse is not open to the public, but you can still go close enough to view it, as well as the spectacular views.
Three Houses Park
Three Houses Park is a great picnic spot for a day out with the family. It received its name since many years ago, there were only three houses in the general area. This is no longer the case but the name remains. There are several picnic tables around the park or you can lay a blanket and have a relaxing day under the shady trees while being refreshed by the island breezes. There is also a playground for children’s enjoyment. Additionally, there are natural streams in the area where you can take a dip to be refreshed!
Bushy Park
Bushy Park is a racing circuit, which hosts many motorsport activities. The Karting Experience at Bushy Park is an especially popular activity. Participants are offered the opportunity to race in specially-designed 0.41-kilometre circuit in a Birel karts. It’s a fun activity for lovers of thrill, speed and motorsport.
Crane Beach
Crane Beach, named as “One of the 10 Best Beaches in the World” by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” is a spectacular beach with soft pink sand and beautiful blue water and is adorn by a lush coconut grove. This spot is fun for all – whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple or as a family or group.
