Making travel plans to Barbados is very exciting; but what should you pack? The Crane has put together a list of essentials for your Barbados vacation.
From Your Files
In order to begin your vacation, you need to actually get to Barbados. The first thing you should pack is a valid passport, along with completed customs documents and a plane ticket. Remember to make copies just in case these documents go missing and keep them in another location.
From Your Closet
It’s always summer in Barbados. Due to its location, Barbados does not experience the 4 seasons, so you should expect lots of sunshine and pack accordingly. Light, breathable fabrics such as cotton, chiffon and linen are perfect for this weather and allow you to be cooled by the light island breezes. Be sure to pack an elegant outfit or two if you plan to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant.
From Your Shoe Rack
Leave your boots at home. Flip flips, sandals and flats would ensure your comfort during your Barbados vacation. Throw in a pair of heels for nights of elegant dining and breathable sneakers as well, in case you decide to partake in activities such as hiking.
From Your Swimwear
If you’re traveling to Barbados, the beach is a must; so swimwear is essential. Depending on the length of your stay, you should pack at least 2 swimsuits or beach trunks. That way, while you wear one, the other could be drying. Don’t forget to bring a cover up to wear while you leave the beach, maybe to grab lunch for example. This swimwear can also come in handy on days when you choose not to leave your hotel and use the pool facilities instead.
From Your Medicine Cabinet
Your hotel might provide soap and shampoos, but you might opt to bring along your favourite brands. You can also bring travel sized toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream and so on or you can purchase these items from a supermarket or convenience store when you arrive in Barbados. It is advised to pack any necessary medications with your toiletries, but be sure to have a note from your doctor as well, just in case.
It is important to pack sunscreen and insect repellent to help you deal with the effects of the sunny weather and the mosquitoes respectively. Also, regarding cosmetics, be sure to include lip balm and basic skin care products.
Leave It at Home
It is best not to travel with any articles of clothing with the camouflage design, since it is illegal to wear or have in anything with this design in your possession unless you are in the army and wear it as a part of your uniform.
